The HBO Max original hit series We’re Here season 3 is back, it will shatter the show’s previous expectations. Prepared to warm hearts, RuPaul’s Drag Race fan-favorites Shangela “Laquifa” Wadley, Bob The Drag Queen, and Eureka O’Hara travel from coast-to-coast to poke, prod, and dig deeper into one of America’s most-controversial debates: gay rights. The three aim to spark conversations of LGBTQ+ treatment with both small-town folk and dead-set opposing Americans.
The show’s all-new trailer on YouTube blusters the We’re Here stars as they confront anti-LBGTQ+ picketers toe-to-toe. “You need to repent, sir. You’re an abomination. Shame on you,” curses a protestor at the queens. Later, Eureka, a three-time Drag Race competitor and trans-rights activist, smiles and proudly proclaims, “Darling, we’re here, and we’re not going anywhere.” While prevalent for small-town communities to give resistance, an up-close-and-personal confrontation with hostile picketers comes as a show first. The viewpoint surfaces as all-too-familiar for both the former Ru-girls and audiences of the LGBTQ+ experience.
The Roster of We’re Here Cities Will Make History
While in the South, the We’re Here queens stop by a Southern surf spot (Brevard County, Florida), a civil-rights staple (Jackson, Mississippi), and a rural Texan town (Granbury, Texas). LGBTQ+ counter-protest may run implied through formerly confederate communities; however, Southern hospitality is not to be forgotten. As shown in the first two installments, Southern individuals prove time and time again to yield compassion, often rebounding toward equality. Though based in Los Angeles, viral sensation Shangela was born just over two hours from We’re Here season 3’s Granbury, and knows too well of overcoming adversity. Most recently, Shangela’s spicy performances on Dancing With The Stars had the internet buzzing.
Among other cities on We’re Here season 3’s roster include a Mount Zion suburb (St. George, Utah) and a neighbor to New York City (Sussex, New Jersey). From New York themselves, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 winner and comedian, Bob The Drag Queen spits humor to overcome hardship. In recent years, Bob has frankly opened up about former run-ins with the police during protest, as well as showing continual involvement in the Black Lives Matter movement.
On the show’s initial announcement, the triad’s involvement came as no surprise to the Drag Race reception. An Emmy award-winning team, Eureka, Shangela, and Bob are the queens of both the main stage and rural America and prepare to make history, once more. The trio will make their debut on We’re Here season 3, appearing in all-new episodes each week.
