Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2.The Mandalorian season 3, episode 2 “Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore” featured several significant revelations about Mandalore, which hint at eight possible theories for season 3, episode 3. The latest episode provided new information on Din Djarin, Bo-Katan, and Mandalorian society, which leaves many options open to the characters for the rest of season 3. Din Djarin completed his quest to bathe in the waters beneath the Mines of Mandalore, but he was also saved by Bo-Katan, so it’s unclear what he’ll choose to do in the next episode. There are even more paths for Bo-Katan to follow, now that she knows the truth thanks to Din’s persistence.

Of course, the next episode of The Mandalorian could go in an unexpected direction, taking Din Djarin to a new planet for an unrelated side quest. The Mandalorian has always handled its fan service remarkably well, balancing easter egg and reference-heavy episodes with ones that bring new elements to the Star Wars universe. However, given the significance of season 3, episode 2’s key moments, it’s likely that at least a few of the revelations will be the focus of the next episode. Here are 8 theories for The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3, and how they can affect the rest of the show going forward.

8 A Flashback To Mandalore At The Height Of Its Power (Or Just Before The Great Purge)

Bo-Katan recalled how beautiful Mandalore was before its destruction, so maybe the next episode will give a full flashback of Mandalore prior to the Great Purge. The flashbacks have been some of the most captivating moments throughout The Mandalorian, and given everything Bo-Katan talked about, there are many time periods and events that could be expanded upon. A flashback could show the Mandalorian Civil Wars, Sundari during the Clone Wars, the reign of the Empire, or the Night of a Thousand Tears from Bo-Katan’s point of view. The live-action Star Wars TV shows have shown Order 66 multiple times, so The Mandalorian could do the same with the Great Purge.

7 Din Djarin And Bo-Katan Discover Other Survivors On Mandalore

Din Djarin and Bo-Katan ran into Alamites and a droid-creature hybrid in the Mines of Mandalore, meaning it’s possible that other Mandalorian survivors are living on the planet. After killing a pack of Alamites, Bo-Katan commented that “If they survived, I wonder what else might have, too.” R5-D4’s readings confirmed that Mandalore’s atmosphere wasn’t poisoned, so maybe there are Mandalorians living in the caves or in a bunker, not realizing it’s safe to come out. This could even create a new conflict between the Mandalorians who fled the destruction of Mandalore’s surface and the ones who refused to abandon their homeworld.

6 Din Djarin Joins Bo-Katan Instead Of Returning Home

Din Djarin bathed in the waters beneath Mandalore and redeemed himself in the eyes of his clan, meaning he can return to them as a Mandalorian. However, Din told Bo-Katan that he was in her debt for saving his life, making it likely that he’ll join her first before returning to his clan. He’s already been an apostate for a while now, so there’s technically no time limit on returning with proof that he bathed in the waters of Mandalore. Even so, redeeming himself was all Din could think about, so honoring his debt to Bo-Katan instead of returning immediately wouldn’t be easy for him, even if Creed demands it.

5 Bo-Katan Sends Out A Call To The Remaining Mandalorians

If Bo-Katan is once again set on reclaiming Mandalore, then she would naturally attempt to summon the remaining Mandalorian clans. She could call a summit on Mandalore or the nearby moon of Concordia, showing that Mandalore is not cursed after all. Of course, several clans are likely to object to Bo-Katan’s rule, given how it ended last time, and they’re even more likely to disagree on how Mandalorian society should be rebuilt. This would be a great opportunity for conflict between Din Djarin and the Children of the Watch, who would accuse him of choosing loyalty to Bo-Katan over returning to his own people.

4 Bo-Katan and Din Djarin Recruit Ahsoka Tano

Should Din Djarin and Bo-Katan attempt to seek out allies, then Ahsoka Tano would probably be at the top of their list. Ahsoka helped defeat Maul during the Siege of Mandalore at the end of the Clone Wars, and Bo-Katan told Grogu that Mandalorians and Jedi once worked well together, so Ahsoka would be a perfect ally for reclaiming Mandalore now. Ahsoka is also on a mission to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, so if the Mandalorians were to seek justice against the Imperial Remnant, it could help Ahsoka on her quest, too. In this event, The Mandalorian could catch fans up on Ahsoka’s exploits and provide additional setup for the Ahsoka TV show.

3 Bo-Katan Attempts To Tame The Mythosaur

Bo-Katan discovered a Mythosaur still alive in the waters beneath the Mines of Mandalore, and this could help her establish credibility among the Mandalorians. It’s said that Mand’alor the Great once tamed the beast, so if Bo-Katan wants to prove that she’s meant to rule Mandalore, then riding a Mythosaur could inspire confidence among the Mandalorians. This would be similar to Boba Fett learning to ride a rancor in The Book of Boba Fett, allowing him to crush his enemies and serve as a symbol of his power. At the very least, having a creature like the Mythosaur at her command would be a great asset for Bo-Katan.

2 Bo-Katan Challenges Din Djarin For The Darksaber

Another way that Bo-Katan could lay claim to the throne is by challenging Din Djarin to a duel for the Darksaber. Bo-Katan has held off on doing this so far, but now that Mandalore is in her grasp again, perhaps she’ll decide to finally win the Darksaber through combat. Din Djarin managed to defeat both Moff Gideon and Paz Vizsla in a duel for the Darksaber, but Bo-Katan is a skilled and far more experienced Mandalorian warrior, and her past shows that she’s willing to go to these extremes. The Mandalorian showed that Bo-Katan uses the Darksaber better than Din Djarin, which gives her a stronger chance of beating him.

1 Bo-Katan Asks Din Djarin To Become Mandalore’s New Leader

On the other hand, Bo-Katan may decide that Din Djarin is meant to lead Mandalore and urge him to follow this path. Bo-Katan was ready to give up on reclaiming Mandalore, but Djarin’s refused to give up on his quest, and it seems that his faith in the Way of the Mandalore may have inspired her. After failing her people as Mandalore’s ruler, Bo-Katan may be ready to support someone else’s claim to the throne, just as Sabine Wren once did for her. The Mandalorian season 3, episode 3 may answer this and many other Mandalorian questions, providing information that leads to new theories about the show’s future.

New episodes of The Mandalorian release every Wednesday on Disney+.
