Tammy 2 is an important recurring character in Parks and Recreation because she was Ron Swanson’s second wife. The director of Pawnee, Indiana’s titular Parks and Recreation department, Ron is a gruff man who didn’t appear to have time for love. At the same time, he was married three times and could be seen as a genuine romantic when he put in the effort. While Ron didn’t have the same zest for life as his coworker Leslie Knope, he did have a way of charming women when he wasn’t working, hunting, or woodworking.
One of the best Ron and Tammy 2 Parks and Recreation episodes was season 2, episode 8, “Ron and Tammy.” Ron explained to the cameras that Tammy 2 was the second Tammy he had married, and she worked for Pawnee’s library. The decimation of their relationship was obvious once the two were seen together. Tammy 2 was raunchy, manipulative, and dramatic — everything Ron wasn’t. At the same time, the two had a magnetic connection that couldn’t be denied, and it made it hard for Ron to move on from Tammy 2 for years.
Tammy 2 Brought Out A Different Side Of Ron
The reason why Tammy 2 and Ron didn’t work out in the long run was because she brought out a different side of him that he didn’t like. While hilarious, Ron and Tammy 2 were inappropriate whenever they were together because of the sexual chemistry they couldn’t hide when they were in public. Tammy 2 had a hold on Ron that no other woman had. This made it hard for Ron to date because she always intervened or proved no one compared to her. When with Tammy 2, Ron was carefree and mischievous. He didn’t care about his work duties or the possibility of being arrested for outlandish behavior.
One of the biggest red flags in Ron’s character was when he was willing to give Lot 48 to Tammy and the library instead of to Leslie and the Parks department. Leslie couldn’t build her park without Ron’s approval, which wouldn’t happen if he handed it over to Tammy 2 because he was under her love spell. In the long run, Ron knew how dangerous it would be to stay with Tammy 2, and ended the relationship countless times. He eventually was able to resist her advances enough and marry Diane, a woman who was the complete opposite of Tammy 2.
Tammy 2 And Ron Are Played By Real-Life Couple Megan Mullally And Nick Offerman
Ron Swanson and Tammy 2 are played by husband and wife acting duo Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally. The two met in 2000 while in the play The Berlin Circle and started dating shortly after (via People). The funny couple was married three years later, and they have been together for over 20 years, continuing to collaborate on acting projects.
As thoughtful as Ron was on Parks and Recreation, Offerman was doubly so when he praised working with his wife. Acting with Mullally on Parks and Rec. was a big moment for Offerman because they treated one another as “peers” instead of as “Megan’s student,” (via People) which he often felt when working alongside his comic genius wife. Offerman and Mullally have since been in projects together like the off-Broadway play Annapurna, Ernest & Celestine, and voiced characters in Bob’s Burgers and Hotel Transylvania 2. Their time together on Parks and Recreation was also the catalyst for a year-long comedy tour and memoir, making them one of comedy’s finest duos.
