President Tinubu suspends CBN Governor Emefiele

Emefiele was suspended by President Tinubu in June, barely one month after he took over from former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The suspended CBN governor had since then been arrested and detained by the Department of State Service (DSS). The secret police have charged him with procurement fraud he is currently facing another legal charge from the DSS.

According to Ajuri Ngelale, the spokesperson to President Tinubu, the names of Cardoso and four other nominees as deputy governors of the apex bank were forwarded to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
